Travel to Blantyre
Malawi has two international airports, in Lilongwe and Blantyre. Conference
Participants will most likely want to fly into Blantyre Chileka Airport. There is one
South African Airlines (12h35) flight and one Air Malawi(16h35) flight into Blantyre on
Wednesday August 12th

Air Malawi fare is MK60,000 including taxes, but is currently only available
through event coordinator capgan2009event@gmail.com who will book this for you.
Notes on Flight connections for those coming through Johannesburg:
Please note that the flights may book up early. VIP access will be given to all those
arriving on the SAA this flight.
Return flights out are early on Sunday Morning for those on Air Malawi and those on SAA
as this also connects via Lilongwe. Please check the flight schedules CAREFULLY. Should
you want a Lilongwe city Tour whilst in transit please arrange via Janice@wilderness.mw
Those wanting to do a bit of sightseeing on Sunday whilst in Blantyre- the following

Should you wish to make your decision on which tours when you are already here, Wilderness
Safari will provide an exhibition stand on Thursday 13th August as part of the
social program. Cash payments will be acceptable for Tours on this day.
If connections require an incoming overnight stay in Johannesburg, we can recommend
guesthouses which provide breakfast and round trip airport transport

Commonwealth Countries

Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia
These requirements sometimes change, so it is best to enquire with your embassy before
confirming flights
The research support committee organizers can help with visa applications for citizens
of any nationality wanting to attend the conference. If you require a letter of invitation
to obtain a visa or authorization to attend the conference, please contact the CAPGAN2009
RSC coordinator at capgan2009RSC@gmail.com. The invitation does not obligate the
organizers financially in any way.

Transport from airport into Blantyre
Transport will be included for delegates paying full registration fee and arriving
or leaving within one day of the conference start or stop. Please confirm with conference
coordinators at least one week prior to intended arrival. Capgan2009event@gmail.com
If your travel arrangements change unexpectedly, please contact
the coordinator on +265 9 99 788 044 for a private collection which will cost US$30
Airport departure fees
International flights out of Malawi are subject to a USD $30 departure fee.
Delegates are advised to check with their carriers to determine if it is include in the
ticket to avoid a last minute surprise.
